Inclusive Conservation of Coastal and Marine Resources
1. Developing Multistakeholder Discussion
Facilitating collaboration between government, NGOs, and grassroots groups to develop collaborating models in managing coastal and marine resources. Our models are tailored to be replicated in other coastal districts/cities and different levels of government. Multi-stakeholder discussion is created as an equal forum to engage all citizens and stakeholders in the development and implementation of public policy and programs specifically on the coastal and marine resources.
We are piloting voluntary donation for conservation to raise resources for the conservation of the coastal and marine area, collaborative management of marine area (include the establishment of a fish bank), reducing the threat to coastal an marine ecosystem, tourist/visitor management, and zoning system for coastal and marine areas.

2. Channeling Participation through Media and Technology
We work to empowering coastal communities to increase their participation in decision making and in policies and programs that affect their lives and natural resource in their region through media and technology. We trained and mentored local communities, villagers, and fishers to document problems and issues they found in their everyday life through photo and video, and share it to various offline and online media. Thus, they can better formulate their issues, presents their thought and concerns, participate in discourse to find, develop, and implement solutions.

3. Promoting Transparency through Open Data
Reef Check Indonesia initiated efforts to promote transparency and governance in the management of the coastal and marine resources by optimizing open data platforms and advance in information technology. These efforts are conducted by
- Equipping community organization as a center for information and advocacy
- Training on information right and how to access information, to interpret and use data, and use technology to ease access.
- Assist implementation of open data policy in public office, including assistance to provide data in open data format and user-friendly visualization.
- Piloting community scorecard where the public can monitor and assess the performance of coastal and marine resource management in their region.
